Giddens Security Corporation is a Florida based security firm that was established in 1982 by Darrell Giddens.

A Little History

Darrell began operations in 1982 because he saw a need for high quality, customer focused security service in Jacksonville. Darrell is the longest active Licensed Security Manager in the Greater Jacksonville area. Conveniently located on the westside of Jacksonville at 528 South Edgewood Avenue, Giddens Security offers armed and unarmed security and patrol services throughout Florida and Southeast Georgia. Emergency services are available 24 hours a day.

Giddens Security’s first contract for services was 26 branches of Barnett Bank. Due in large part to its reputation as a security provider committed to customer service, Giddens Security has experienced incredible growth since 1982.

Giddens Security Corporation’s armed patrol officers are available twenty four hours a day to assist guards or our clients. Each site is checked a minimum of four to five times a week. Supervisor patrols can be tailored to your specific needs.

Our certified training school

Through specialized training provided by our own state certified unarmed and armed school, our security officers are well acquainted with today's security issues.

Armed Security

The state of Florida requires a 28 hour course with classroom and gun range training to be an armed security officer. .
Unarmed Security

To be a security officer in Florida you have to take a 40 hour course to get an unarmed class D license. We teach the course every week at our Jacksonville location.
Concealed Carry

This course is not for a security officer to be able to carry a concealed weapon. This course is for a private citizen to carry a concealed weapon.

Here are some of the most Frequently Asked Questions that we get about our security services.

What type of training do we offer?

To be a security officer in the state of Florida, you must complete 40 hours of classroom training and 2 hours of testing. Once completed you can obtain a Class D Security License. We teach this course every week(excluding weeks with major holidays). This class runs Mon-Thurs 8AM-6:30PM with two hours of testing beginning at 6:30PM Thursday afternoon.
If you wish to also obtain a Class G Security License after obtaining the Class D Security License, we also offer that course. The state of Florida requires 28 hours of classroom and range training to obtain the Class G License. Make sure to bring with you your valid photo ID and pen and paper (this applies to both courses).This class runs Mon-Wed 8AM-5:30PM.

There is no pre-registration for either course and payment would be due the first day of class. We accept debit, credit, cash and money orders (made payable to Giddens Security).

Do your security officers keep reports?

In order to maintain accountability of our security officers and to ensure quality service, we utilize the Guard 1 Pipe System and this computerized scanning system provides our clients with an accurate printout providing detailed information of the time, date, and location of the security officer’s rounds and patrols. Yes, all guards with Giddens Security are required to keep detailed daily logs, rover logs, and incident reports as well as using the Guard 1 pipe system.
